- SHAREWARE VERSION
- ═════════════════
-
- This program is shareware, not freeware. There is no set review period
- however, if you use it and you want to be eligible of technical support
- I urge you to send $95 to the above address or call us voice for credit
- card orders. Make sure you include your name, address, phone numbers,
- and BBS information.
-
- Escape From Languor is the most complex TDBS game ever written. Don't
- confuse it with our earlier experiment, a RIP game called RIPMAZE. This
- is much more complex and exciting. It's not a DOOR, but a TDBS game
- using a TPG. Players move through the game using a mouse (optional). It's
- very complex and exciting. And there's all kinds of action, fun, and
- adventure. Players can save and restore their games and can climb
- the stairs and move through five (5) floors or Levels and complete the
- surprising climax.
-
- For PLAYER information please see the doc file "EFL_PLAY.DOC". There's more
- information there for you to read. I won't duplicate it here.
-

-
- FILES TO DISTRIBUTE TO YOUR USERS
- ═════════════════════════════════
-
- Just so there is no confusion, I'll list this separately. You may
- distribute to your players/users only the following files:
-
- ELF_1.ZIP .........ICN/MSK files
- ELF_2.ZIP ........ ICN/MSK files
- ELF_3.ZIP ........ ICN/MSK files
- ELF_4.ZIP ........ RIP files * see note *
- EFL_PLAY.DOC ..... documentation contained inside EFL_1.ZIP
-
- You may distribute the above five files to any caller on your BBS or send
- them via mail however you wish, for a fee or free. The choice is yours.
- I've ZIPed them into four files so it's easier for your callers to
- download. You are not allowed to distribute any other files to your
- callers. All other files are to be used ONLY on your registered TBBS
- system and may not be shared or copied or used by any other person.
-
-
-
- LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR TBBS SYSOPS
- ═════════════════════════════════
- EFL is copyrighted software. I reserve all rights to the program. Except
- for the player documentation (EFL_PLAY.DOC) and DBF/NDX/CFG files, no files
- associated with EFL may be amended, edited, changed, or in any other
- manner altered. This includes the .ICN files and file dates. I've included
- EFL_PLAY.DOC inside EFL.ZIP so that you don't have to unZIP the player
- files to read it. So, don't think it's not available to the players. It is.
- This Shareware version of EFL has no fixed review period. However,
- technical assistance is only available to registered users. Registration
- is $95. EFL is copyrighted (C) 1993 by James M. Maxey. All rights are reserved.

-
- REQUIREMENTS FOR TBBS SYSOPS
- ════════════════════════════
- Escape From Languor (EFL) requires that you use TBBS v2.2 (or later) and
- the latest version of TDBS. It will NOT operate on systems such as MAJOR
- BBS, GALACTICOM, PC BOARD, or any other system but TBBS. There are no
- plans to convert it to any other format at this time. Your players must
- be calling using RIPTERM or some other communications software supporting
- the RIPscript protocol. RIPTERM is available here on eSoft for you to
- download. We don't use the ICONS that come with standard RIPTERM program
- so you don't need them.
-
-
- To make EFL available to your callers, you need to make our EFL ICONS
- available to them first. Our ICONS have the prefix of "#" so players may
- more easily identify them. Use a type 46 command in one of your menus
- to allow your potential players to download them. Here's an example:
-
- KEY=D TYPE=46 Opt Data=d:\efl\eflicons/f/nb/nc/p:456789ab
-
- In the example above I used hard drive D, sub-directory EFL and a directory
- called EFLICONS.DIR. The P: switch allows only binary downloads. This is
- an example only. Your system requirements will probably be different.
-
- For more possible menu options see the files EFL.SDL and MENUEFL.CTL.
- Again, those are only examples.
-
- To allow your RIP callers to play EFL use a type 200 command like this:
-
- KEY=P TYPE=200 Opt Data=d:\efl\efl/q
-
- Again, see MENUEFL.CTL enclosed as an example.
-
- That's all there is to it.
-
-
- If you should run into problems please feel free to call me or my head
- Programmer, Thomas Stubbs at 503 697-7700, weekdays, 10am to 5pm. Or leave a
- message on EH at 503 697-5100. Please have all the information you can get
- for us if there is a problem. It helps us to more easily find any problem.
- The more detail the better.

-
- * note *
- addendum 07/01/94 - for improved performance, ver 1.1 makes available the
- RIP files that were originally transmitted exclusively by modem in ver 1.0
- However, this is entirely optional. If you unzip the EFL_4.ZIP to the
- EFL directory (same location defined in EFLSYSOP and where the TPG & DBF's
- are located) then users will be notified if they do not have these files
- on their local drive. They will then be given the opportunity to download
- them immediately, (UNZIPPED) and proceed into the game. If you do not want
- this feature, simply do NOT unzip this file. EFL_1-3.ZIP should NOT be
- unzipped in any case.
